Welcome to EastwindWalkers.com, a small farm that focuses on raising and training well mannered, well tempered, well gaited Tennessee walking horses. We do not deal in volume and do not buy horses at auction. At Eastwind each one of our walkers are personallyselected for temperament and gait first and foremost. We like to acquire our walkers once they are old enough to be weaned and then bring them home. They learn very important equine social skills this way and learn how to be a horse and interact with other horses. Our walkers spend the first two years of their lives out in the pasture yet they are brought in and handled on a daily basis. They go through the learning processes of learning how to stand in cross ties, stand for the farrier, load and unload SAFELY from a trailer. They learn how to lead, bathe, clip. They learn ground manners and how to respect the space of a human. Our walkers have available to them a 60x110 covered area to get out of the elements if they so choose. Because of the way we raise our walkers, they are very friendly, they seek out the companionship of humans yet they are respectful. They love attention and will follow you around in the pasture. They come to visit us whenever they see us. There is never a struggle or battle trying to catch them, bridle them or halter them. Eastwind Walkers welcomes anyone who is contemplating a purchase to visit us and meet their prospective purchase up close and personal. Eastwind Stables will always guarantee that our horses are everything we say they are.
We believe that the breed of the Tennessee Walker is an exceptional example of the ultimate Equine. We believe in all natural resistance free natural horsemanship training techniques and quality, not quantity. We believe in naturally enhancing our horses gaits through training and teaching collection not through harsh inhumane bits, funky shoeing tricks, soring or action devices. We don't believe in bestowing any type of pain on our horses just to get a higher, faster or flashier gait. All these gimmicks used to enhance a horses gait are all temporary and do not last. When you buy a walker from us, we want it to gait for you as well as it gaited for us.
Proper saddle fitting is extremely important in helping your walker gait properly. If the horse is being pinched in the shoulder/whither area, the pain will hinder their gait. If you do not have a proper seat in the saddle, this to will also hinder the gait of the horse. Know your walkers and know what is necessary to help them stay in their gait and gait properly.
All of our horses go through some very humane yet extreme and agile trail riding courses that help them to become very sure footed and able to navigate just about any obstacle they may come across on a trail. Our horses go through extensive despooking excessive as part of their 30 day training process. When our horses leave here, we know that they are genuinely safe horses. We will not sell to show homes that believe in stacks. Our horses are raised specifically for trail riding, endurance, trail and cowboy extreme types of races. We hope that every one of our walkers ends up in homes where they will be cared for and treated as a family member. We do not take horses in as trades. We will gladly help to sell your walker if you need assistance in doing so.
We believe that 99% of horses bad habits are all human induced stemming from improper handling and improper training techniques. I've seen even the worst of horses rehabilitated with the right techniques, kindness, patience and time.
