I am outraged at the practice of soring and I am even more outraged at the human race for allowing this practice to continue.  The ego of man is sometimes borderline evil.  Would you ever put chemicals on your feet that would burn so badly that it would cause your skin to blister, bubble and peel?  Would you ever then wrap chains that bounce against your skin and tear into the burned flesh and then go run a marathon in platform shoes?  Have you ever had a blister on your toe, heel, foot and tried to walk normal?

That's what these horses are forced to endure.  They are expected to endure the pain of chemically induced burned flesh with weighted chains that bounce against the raw flesh and still, they are expected to behave and perform.  As I write this, my stomach becomes queezy.  Have you ever walked down the aisles at the shows and seen the horses in their stalls laying down?  They are laying down because to stand and put weight on their feet is beyond any pain they can endure, so they lay down.  Have you ever seen their legs wrapped with plastic or cotton wrappings?  If you ask the trainers why the horses legs are wrapped they'll slough off the question with a shrug of the shoulder and non shalently tell you that they are wrapping the horses legs to keep the tendons and ligaments warm, relaxed and loose.  What they are actually doing is baking in the chemical agents to make sure they are absorbed into the flesh.

These trainers actually wear plastic gloves when applying the chemical agents to the horse's legs because it is so caustic and toxic they know if they get it on their skin, it will severely burn them.

This whole practice of soring has got to stop.  Any time you see these horses in the shows in pads and lifting their feet so high in front, just know that this horse is in pain and is paying the ultimate price for you to see this.  These horses lift their feet so high because they are one: trying to flick the chains off their feet and two: they are trying to put all their weight on their back end and stay off the front feet as much as they can to avoid the pain.  What in GODS NAME is blue ribbon material about this?

Click on document to read about Soring. It's illegal, immoral and just plain outright animal abuse. It's heartbreaking to think that any human can find this practice of abuse acceptable and for what??? A blue ribbon. The ego of man is sometimes so out of control it's frightening.
